The White Mountains of New Hampshire is a winter wonderland. Never more so than at the top of December, when the holidays are before us and the Mount Washington Valley rolls out of the warmest traditions, greatest shopping, holiday bazaars, fairs and tours. On the second & third weekends, both Saturday and Sunday, one need look no farther than your Notchland Innkeepers (or the Conway paper) for a catalog of experiences that will treat your senses …enjoy the fragrances of pine trees, greens and the confections of the season…savor the tastes of sugars and spice and yule-tide treats… collect a sampling of winter music, laughter, and the crunch of snow…feel the warmth of the fires, the bracing mountain air, handshake greetings melting into fond farewell hugs…but most of all be engulfed by a world festooned for all to enjoy. Discover new holiday magic, traditions, and spirit; inspiration to kick off the coming weeks of baking, gifting and celebrating with family and friends.

Everyone at Notchland stands ready to guide you toward that holiday pastime you are longing to rediscover or a new one to add to your repertoire. What better holiday activity than to combine joy, giving, and sweets into a brand new old fashion tradition.

Holiday Shopping:

During your visit for the Holiday Cookie Tour, plan to take some time to do some holiday shopping — Tax Free — at a variety of name-brand outlets, specialty shops, boutiques and galleries.

Cut-Your-Own Tree:

For the freshest, most fragrant and often more affordable Christmas tree, cut your own. There are a number of tree farms in our area where you can cut your own fresh tree to take home. Plan a visit earlier in the season and tag one for them to ship to you. Many also offer horse-drawn wagon rides, bonfires, gifts, garlands and wreaths. A true New England holiday experience.

Early Season Skiing:

Most downhill mountains are open by mid-December with a combination of man-made and natural snow cover. Most often Mother Nature has provided enough snow cover for nearby cross country trails to also be groomed for your exploration.

All good reasons to extend your stay!
